Located on the Sunrise River, this rural community boasts numerous parks, two walking trails and is adjacent to the Carlos Avery Wildlife Nature Preserve. When it was first founded in 1923, Stacy was a quiet railroad stop on the St. Paul / Duluth Railroad. According to local legend, city dwellers would come to Stacy and spend the day boating on Fawn Lake or duck hunting on Mud Lake. Today, the Historic Highway 61 and Interstate 35 have replaced the railroad providing the city of Stacy with easy access to the Twin Cities in the South and to Duluth in the North.

The City of Stacy, MN, first settled in 1870 and establish in 1875 was named in honor of Dr. Stacy B. Collins an early resident. The post office was established in 1873 and the village had a station on the St. Paul and Duluth railroad, it was incorporated as a village on April 13th 1923.
